Olight Baton 4 Pro Review: Real Farm Night Test

Olight Baton 4 Pro review and real farm night test against my trusted Olight M2R, using targets at 10, 20 and 30 metres. See whether this smaller rechargeable torch has enough reach, simple controls and everyday practicality for real farm and rural property work.

I have used my older Olight M2R for around four years, and it has been one of the most reliable torches I have owned. When Olight supplied the smaller Baton 4 Pro for review, I wanted to find out whether a pocket-sized torch could genuinely perform alongside the larger M2R.

We begin with the Baton 4 Pro controls, brightness settings, lockout function, magnetic charging system, USB-C charging port, magnetic mounting bracket and two-way pocket clip.

Once it gets dark, both torches are tested in the paddock using red jerry cans positioned at 10, 20 and 30 metres. This provides a practical comparison of beam spread, useful visibility and performance at each power setting.

The Baton 4 Pro has since become my everyday torch. It fits easily into a pocket, clips onto a cap for hands-free jobs and provides useful light for collecting firewood, checking equipment and completing jobs around a rural property after dark.

This review will be useful for farmers, contractors, landholders, campers and anyone looking for a compact rechargeable LED torch or everyday-carry flashlight. It covers how the Olight Baton 4 Pro works, magnetic and USB-C charging, brightness controls, cap-mounted use, beam performance and the practical advantages and limitations of carrying a smaller farm torch.

One issue worth understanding is the magnetic tail cap. Magnets can collect fine metal particles around grinding and welding areas, so the back of the torch may occasionally need cleaning if it is regularly used in a workshop.
